The experts and foster carers who made this program do not know everything and in particular they don’t know you, your individual foster family or the individual child in your care. Every foster care and child is unique. The experts can give you a lot of knowledge about foster care work in general, but only you know your foster care and your child – so you are the expert of this individual and unique foster care. The program is not something you just learn and do. We present the general knowledge and then you actively decide how to use it and find your own models for practices along the way. We hope this responsibility will make you feel your job more interesting.

DO YOU HAVE A SUPERVISOR OR A SOCIAL WORKER YOU CAN TALK TO?

Not all countries provide support and training for their foster parents, and many foster parents live far from the cities and have problems in getting supervision. This program is designed to be used with a supervisor, but you can also use it yourself individually if no supervision is provided. In that case you and your spouse can become work partners using the program together. This is a great opportunity for developing your relations as a family.
